| In addition to the
sale price of a property in Portugal, there are extra costs which you
must factor into your total purchase budget. |
|
IMT Tax |
This varies depending upon the sale price of a property.
*see IMT tax reference table. |

Lawyer
(Advogada) |
|
There are no set fees for
lawyers in Portugal for the conveyance of a property. Some lawyers will
charge between one and two per cent of the total sale price of a
property.
However when discussing fees
and charges with the lawyer you intend to use it is wise to enquire if
he/she has a set fee for services and get them to outline exactly what
they will do for this fee. Good lawyers usually charge between 450-650€
for conveyance irrelevant of the purchase price. *see

Fees are set by the government and are based on a sliding scale according to the value of the property,
the location of the property and the size of the property. These are between 1.25% and 1.5%.
It is possible to get an
exact costing of this before purchasing by visiting the local financial
department of the Council (Câmara). |

Land Registry Fees |
|
The fees for registering your
property with the land registry office vary, again depending upon the
size of the property and the location. However the rate is usually
between 0.75% to 1%. Again it is possible to get a figure from the
council before purchasing so you know exactly what expense is involved
in a particular purchase. |
