Now
not
that we're complaining about this. However this year (2012) the
Óbidos International Chocolate Festival
falls during lent, something of a nightmare for chocoholics who have
pledged to stay off the cocoa treat until Easter. If your resolve
is good though, then the
Óbidos International Chocolate Festival
is well worth a visit.
As well as a tantalizing array of
freshly cooked chocolate pastries on sale throughout the historic centre
of Óbidos
there will be a series of courses on chocolate making, demonstrations
from renowned Portuguese chefs and a variety of competitions to test
chocolatiers' knowledge and ability to the limit as well as test your
willpower.
The
Óbidos International Chocolate Festival
is a great day out for all the family and an excellent excuse to indulge
in all things chocolate including Ginja
d'Óbidos, a cherry liqueur served in a small chocolate
cup.
In
addition to the usual chocolately festivities - chocolate body painting,
diabetic chocolate cake making courses and a Concourse of Chocolate, there will also be display
of intricately designed chocolate sculptures, which are hoped to be
literally good enough to eat.
The theme for the sculpture display is
the Heritage of Óbidos, so there should be some tasty looking morsels on
display.
Another addition to this years' Festival is the Chocolate Lounge, where
you can gorge, sorry, sample up to 15 or 20 tasty chocolate treats in
relative private with other choco-connoisseurs for a small additional
fee.
The
Óbidos International Chocolate Festival
opens on Friday 2nd March and runs until Sunday 25th March 2012,
though chocoholics be warned temptation can be difficult to resist. |
