An old stone, detached house in need of
renovation for sale close to the market town of
Alvaiázere in central
Portugal. The house, which is connected to mains
electricity and water, is set over two floors and has many traditional
features.
The house measures 93
square metres of construction and is set on a plot measuring 1,040
square metres. It is boarded by two quiet roads, but has good views over
the countryside.
The house does require
modernisation and renovation work, but does retain many traditional,
character features including wooden floors and stone window and doors
surrounds. The house is set over two floors and the ground floor space
has been used for storage and wine making purposes, but could be
converted into living accommodation. The house briefly comprises:
Ground Floor:
Access to the ground floor is to the front of the house (away from
road). There are three aluminium doors which allow access to this space
and the rooms all have earth floors. There are two large rooms to this
floor, one of which has a wine making vat, and there is an internal door
to each.
First Floor: The
first floor is accessed via an external stone staircase to the front of
the property. This staircase leads to a open-fronted covered terrace
with a wooden beamed roof. There is a double opening, wooden entrance
door, which leads into a rustic style kitchen. This kitchen has a wooden
floor and ceiling and a large, traditional style fireplace.
Directly off the kitchen
there is a bedroom, again with a wooden floor and ceiling and a built in
wood wardrobe. A hallway, which leads off the kitchen also has a wooden
floor and ceiling and gives access to a second bedroom and the bathroom.
The bathroom does require modernisation and renovation works, but
plumbing is already in place.
There is a spacious
living room which has a tiled floor and a wooden ceiling. The third
bedroom is accessed off the living room. Off the living room there is a
cosy 'Marquise' room which has an external access door to the rear of
the house.
The property also has a
variety of storage buildings which although attached to the house have
independent access. All of the outbuildings have wooden beamed roofs.
The property has 1,040 square metres of land, which is located to the
front of the house. This land is relatively flat and fertile with a
variety of mature shrubs and trees including fig, orange, lemon, peach
and Nespera. In addition to this there are a number of mature grape
vines and a well.
The house is on the edge of the village of
Pussos in Central Portugal. Pussos is a relatively small village and has
a cafe and mini-market. The larger market town of
Alvaiázere, which has supermarkets, shops, cafes, bars, restaurants,
petrol station, health centre, sports centre, library and swimming pool,
is approximately ten minutes by car.
The historic town of
Tomar, which is famous
for the UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo, is around 25 minutes drive by
car from the house.
Tomar has several large supermarkets, hospital,
banks, pharmacies, health centres, builders merchants, library, cinema,
bowling alley, art gallery, shops and restaurants.
The closest airport to the house is
located at Lisbon, which is approximately one and three quarter hours'
drive. The property has good access links and the 110 Tomar to Coimbra
road is a short drive away. |
